Every year it seems like there’s a new fake sounding material being used in pool cues that makes me scratch my head and ask “what the fuck is that?”. Typically I’m not the only one asking, as we’ll get calls from customers asking the same thing. The most recent of these is something called Dymondwood.
Now when I first heard the word Dymondwood, I thought “meh, just another made up term”. So I did some research and here’s what I found. Dymondwood is more commonly referred to as Compreg. It is a processed wood that is made with resin and compressed to reduce warping while increasing density and strength. It takes dye well, which makes it fairly ideal for use in pool cues (like this shamrock inlay in the McDermott G303 pool cue).

Some of the other products that use Dymondwood include: archery stock, gun grips, knitting needles, pens, frames and musical instruments.
So now you know what Dymondwood is. See, I’m not all about the bitching. Sometimes I provide useful information too.

doesn’t diamond table offer this as an option?
Not sure. Don’t really know much about how Diamond makes their tables.
